Just One: Africa’s vision is to inspire the individual to effect change, resulting in thriving communities with access to clean water and capable of providing for their basic needs.To achieve its vision, we partner with local leaders to create sustainable solutions for vulnerable children and the clean water crisis.Just One: Africa currently operates in Kenya, providing clean drinking water to people who do not have access to improved water sources. Many of the people we are serving have access to water, a lake, a stream, a pond or even a well. Each of these water sources can be extremely contaminated, causing sickness, disease and often death. One of the main areas we serve is the Lake Victoria Basin. The lake is used by millions as a source of food, energy, drinking and irrigation water and as a repository for human, agricultural and industrial waste. They drink this water straight from the lake untreated.The filter distributions, together with sanitation training in these areas, have led to a drastic reduction in reported water related illnesses and deaths. Typhoid and all kinds of intestinal diseases are a thing of the past.
